Top 10 Places to Visit in Southern California
Southern California is not only SENA's home, but it's also among the top travel destinations. We invite you to pack light and bring an appetite as you visit our top 10 favorite places.
San Diego
Looking for breathtaking beaches full of wildlife and clear, sunny skies? There is simply so much to do when you visit San Diego!
For those looking for a scenic view and a gentle breeze, La Jolla could be the place for you with picturesque beaches surrounded by rocky cliffs - great for paddle board and cave exploring. La Jolla is located in the greater San Diego area which holds troves of activities for the whole family.
If you do bring your family, there are even more attractions in San Diego proper, including the world-renowned San Diego Zoo. If it's baseball season, be sure to take in a game at the Padre's stadium conveniently located in Downtown San Diego.
San Diego is also known to have some of the best Mexican food in Southern California. You'll find locals dining at spots like Puesto, just a couple blocks from the La Jolla coves, or Cocina 35 in the Gaslamp District of Downtown San Diego.
Santa Monica
As one of the most popular beach towns in Los Angeles, this city makes many tourist's must-see lists for its large pier and a great variety of attractions. You might also try Pacific Park to ride a thrilling roller coaster or try out the Ferris Wheel.
If you're in the Santa Monica area, don't leave without taking a wander over to Venice Beach (within walking distance). The people-watching alone is worth the stroll!
Hollywood
Many come to So Cal with hopes of experiencing a celebrity-sighting, which is quite likely if you hang out anywhere near Hollywood or Beverly Hills.
Here you can visit the Walk of Fame, see how your hands and feet measure up to famous movie stars in front of the Chinese Theater, or attend a taping of the Jimmy Kimmel show. If you are with the family, make sure to check out Universal Studios Theme Park for a fun time. If you're up to splurge, you might try the Universal Studios VIP Experience ticket, which offers unlimited express access to most rides and attractions among other features, saving you boatloads of time and hassle waiting in lines.
Citadel Outlet
To fulfill your summer shopping needs, the Citadel Outlets is a very large shopping outlet in LA. It boasts 130 stores and has a very large variety of brands. As one of the largest places for shopping, you can find anything you need here.
If trekking the outdoor outlets isn’t the life for you, but you’re in search of some quality leather goods that will make your travel more convenient, try some of the wallet-style cases on SENACases.com.
Disneyland Resort
On the topic of theme parks, Disneyland is perhaps one of the most iconic theme parks of all-time. As the pride and joy for the city of Anaheim, many agree that Disneyland really is the happiest place on earth. There are many sights to see and thrilling rides at this family-friendly destination. For your photo-taking needs, the SENA Cases Bence Lanyard Leather Snap-On Case or Arri Wristlet Leather Snap-On Case will keep your iPhone attached to your wrist as you snap a selfie in front of the castle!
Catalina Island
You can fulfill all your ocean dreams with snorkeling, canoeing, and much more just off the coast of Southern California. Enjoy Catalina's stunning beauty and cool weather from the sea and behold a breathtaking view of California from Catalina's shores.
There's mini-golf, quaint little restaurants, hiking, and zip-lining to fill your day. Most locals recommend staying no more than one night on the island to make the most of your time in So Cal.
Death Valley
If you enjoy solitude and the hot, scorching places of the world, visit Death Valley - home to one of the lowest and hottest national parks in America during the day (and one of the coldest national parks at night). Although its name sounds scary, it is a nice place to see sand dunes and large mountain ranges. Plus, Death Valley boasts the largest thermometer in the world – did someone say IG photo op?!
Palm Springs
Hiking and golf locals often make day trips out to Palm Springs. There are also many interesting museums in this desert oasis. Those feeling lucky but won't be making the trek North to Las Vegas, can enjoy casinos on nearby American Indian reservations in the area.
If you're up for it, a short drive from Palm Springs is a little spot called Joshua Tree which is growing in popularity for camping and hiking, and most known for its unique-looking landscape. Check out the over 1 Million photos on Instagram to see what you're in for!
Big Bear
Is So Cal starting to sound too hot for you? Chill out in Big Bear; an area in the nearby San Bernardino mountains where you can enjoy mild to cold weather or even jet ski across the glistening lake. Although you'll miss the snow in the summertime, you can still enjoy the zoo or expansive view from high altitudes. Take in a hike, unwind in a hot tub, and even venture out to some off-roading trails if you're feeling especially adventurous.
Solvang
This Danish town is a hidden gem! Channel your inner Huell Howser as you explore the city of Solvang, admire the local architecture, and enjoy the motorbike museum. The architecture and music will transport you to Northern Europe without leaving Southern California.
And don't leave without stepping into one of the many Danish bakeries lining the charming streets for some genuine pastries, cookies, and fudge!
